Why Automate Your Flipbook Lead Workflow?

You've built a beautiful flipbook, enabled lead capture, and leads are rolling in. Now what? If you're manually downloading CSV files and copying contacts into your CRM or email tool, you're leaving money on the table — and wasting hours every week.

Automation bridges the gap between capturing a lead and acting on it. When someone fills out your flipbook's lead form, the right automation can instantly add them to your CRM, trigger a welcome email sequence, or ping your sales team on Slack. No delays, no forgotten follow-ups, no spreadsheet gymnastics.

FlipLink's automation and integrations feature makes this possible by sending lead data to any webhook URL the moment a visitor submits their information. That means you can connect FlipLink to virtually any tool — including Zapier, Pabbly Connect, and Make.

Before diving into platform-specific setups, let's understand the core mechanism. FlipLink uses webhooks — a simple, industry-standard way for one app to send real-time data to another.

Here's the flow:

  1. A visitor views your flipbook or document and fills out the lead capture form
  2. FlipLink instantly sends a POST request to your configured webhook URL
  3. The receiving platform (Zapier, Pabbly, or Make) processes the data
  4. Your automation runs — adding the lead to a CRM, sending an email, updating a sheet, or whatever you've configured

The webhook payload from FlipLink includes:

  • Name — the visitor's full name
  • Email — their email address
  • Phone — phone number (if your form collects it)
  • Timestamp — when the form was submitted
  • Publication details — which flipbook or document captured the lead

This data arrives in JSON format, which all three automation platforms handle natively. No coding required.

Prerequisite: You need lead capture enabled on your publication before you can set up webhook automations. If you haven't done that yet, check out our guide on how to capture leads with a flipbook.

Setting Up with Zapier

Zapier is the most popular automation platform, connecting over 6,000 apps. Here's how to wire it up with FlipLink.

Step 1: Create a New Zap

Log into your Zapier account and click Create Zap. For the trigger, choose Webhooks by Zapier and select Catch Hook as the trigger event.

Step 2: Copy the Webhook URL

Zapier will generate a unique webhook URL. Copy this URL — you'll need it in the next step.

Open your FlipLink dashboard, navigate to the publication you want to automate, and go to Settings → Automation. Paste the Zapier webhook URL into the webhook field and save.

Step 4: Test the Connection

Go back to Zapier and click Test Trigger. Then open your flipbook and submit a test lead. Zapier should pick up the data within a few seconds.

Step 5: Add Your Action

Now add the action step — this is where the lead data goes. Choose your CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive), email tool (Mailchimp, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign), or any other app. Map the FlipLink fields (name, email, phone) to the corresponding fields in your destination app.

Turn on the Zap, and you're live.

Setting Up with Pabbly Connect

Pabbly Connect is a cost-effective alternative to Zapier, especially for teams that need high-volume automations without per-task pricing.

Step 1: Create a New Workflow

In Pabbly Connect, click Create Workflow. Name it something descriptive like "FlipLink Leads to CRM."

Step 2: Set the Trigger

Choose Webhook / API as your trigger app. Pabbly will generate a webhook URL. Copy it.

Just like with Zapier, paste this URL into your FlipLink publication's automation settings. Go to Settings → Automation, enter the Pabbly webhook URL, and save.

Step 4: Send a Test Lead

Submit a test entry through your flipbook's lead form. In Pabbly, click Capture Webhook Response to confirm the data came through.

Step 5: Add Your Action Steps

Select your destination app and map the fields. Pabbly supports most popular CRMs, email marketing tools, and databases. You can also chain multiple actions in a single workflow — for example, add to CRM and send a Slack notification.

Setting Up with Make (Formerly Integromat)

Make offers the most visual workflow builder of the three, with branching logic and advanced data transformations.

Step 1: Create a New Scenario

In Make, click Create a new scenario. Search for the Webhooks module and add Custom webhook as your trigger.

Step 2: Get Your Webhook URL

Click Add to create a new webhook, give it a name, and Make will generate a URL. Copy it.

Head to your FlipLink dashboard, open the publication's Settings → Automation, and paste the Make webhook URL.

Step 4: Determine Data Structure

Click Run once in Make, then submit a test lead through your flipbook. Make will automatically detect the incoming data structure and map the fields for you.

Step 5: Build Your Workflow

Add modules for your destination apps. Make's visual builder lets you create branching paths — for example, route leads from different publications to different CRMs, or filter leads by phone number availability before adding them to an SMS sequence.

Example Automations Worth Setting Up

Once your webhook is connected, the possibilities are wide open. Here are some practical workflows that FlipLink users commonly build:

Lead → CRM

Every new flipbook lead automatically creates a contact in HubSpot, Salesforce, or Pipedrive with all captured details. No more manual imports.

Lead → Email Sequence

When someone downloads your flipbook catalog or product guide, instantly enroll them in a nurture sequence via Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or ActiveCampaign.

Lead → Slack Notification

Get a real-time ping in your sales channel whenever a high-value publication captures a lead. Great for time-sensitive follow-ups.

Lead → Google Sheets + CRM

Log every lead in a Google Sheet for reporting and push it to your CRM simultaneously. (For sheets specifically, FlipLink also offers a direct Google Sheets integration that doesn't require a webhook.)

Lead → SMS Follow-Up

If your lead form captures phone numbers, trigger an SMS via Twilio or a similar service for instant engagement.

Zapier vs Pabbly Connect vs Make: Which Should You Use?

All three platforms work well with FlipLink's webhooks. The right choice depends on your budget, workflow complexity, and existing tools.

Our recommendation: If you're just getting started with automation, Zapier's free tier is hard to beat. If you expect high lead volume and want predictable costs, Pabbly's flat-rate pricing makes more sense. If you need advanced logic — like routing leads from different publications to different tools — Make's visual scenario builder gives you the most flexibility.

Tips for a Smooth Setup

  • Always test with a real form submission before going live. Don't rely on sample data alone.
  • Map all fields carefully. Double-check that name, email, and phone map to the right fields in your destination app.
  • Set up error notifications. All three platforms let you get alerted if a workflow fails — turn this on so you never miss a lead.
  • Use filters wisely. If you have multiple publications with different audiences, use filters to route leads to the right lists or pipelines.
  • Monitor your usage. On Zapier and Make, tasks/operations count against your plan. Keep an eye on volume as your flipbooks gain traction.
