Document Viewer

FlipLink Features

A reading mode using PDF.js that renders documents page by page without the flipbook effect.

Definition

A document viewer is a browser-based reader that displays PDFs and other files page by page without requiring the reader to download any software. Unlike a flipbook with animated page turns, a document viewer presents content in a straightforward scrolling or paginated layout. It focuses on readability and fast rendering rather than visual effects.

Why It Matters

Not every document benefits from a page-flip animation. Technical manuals, reports, contracts, and reference guides are easier to consume in a clean, linear reader. A dedicated document viewer also tends to load faster on slower connections and works well on all screen sizes, making content accessible to a wider audience without sacrificing professionalism.

How It Works in FlipLink

FlipLink offers two publication types: flipbooks and documents. When you choose the [Document](/features/create-documents) type, your PDF is rendered using PDF.js in a clean reader interface. The viewer supports page-by-page navigation, zoom controls, search within the document, and full-screen mode. You still get all of FlipLink's other features such as lead capture, analytics, password protection, and CTA buttons. The document type is a permanent choice made at creation and cannot be switched to a flipbook later.

Example

A consulting firm publishes a 50-page industry report as a FlipLink document. Readers open the link in any browser, search for specific sections, and read at their own pace in a distraction-free viewer without needing to download the PDF.
